Fraser Island, the worlds biggest sand island, and Noosa… a very nice town!

After a LONG night bus we arrived at Hervey bay at 6.50, checked into our hostel and were picked up by the minibus for our day tour at 7.20, this is all AM by the way!! So we were both a little tired to say the least which may not of helped…. Unfortunately we couldn’t do the 3 day 4x4tour which sounded great as the time just didnt exist and we prioritised other places, so a day tour of the Island would just have to do!

We saw everything there was to see in a very short amount of time, 90 mile beach was incredible, we motored down it as you would a highway, we went to the famous amazing fresh water lake that looks more like the sea, surrounded by very white sand, the creek where the water flows incredibly fast (which is also very cold!) And walked through one of the many forests. The diverse range of Ecosystems was incredible on the Island, there was a lot to find out. Oh and saw some Dingo’s! And saw a coach’s axel fall off on the 90mile beach! It was an unbelievably beautiful island, unfortunately we didn’t catch it in the best of weather and we were really tired, so probably didn’t appreciate it as much as possible, but nevertheless very happy we got to see it!!

We got back, SLEPT (yay!!) And then got the early bus back to the bus station to catch the greyhound to Noosa. Fraser Island really had been squeezed in to our plan!! Had a nice little nap on the bus and arrived in a sunny Noosa, where we also had very little time, but we feel here it was enough and didn’t miss out on much because of it!

Checked into the hostel and headed out to the beach and town, which was really lovely, family friendly, but more of a classy resort type town. Really lovely shops..… And restaurants…. Would be a lovely place to visit with a little more money! And time to explore the great things further outside the town such as the National Park…. So we made do with the free beach that was within walking distance up and down a very long steep hill! It had a really nice atmosphere and was definitely somewhere we could of been content chilling out in! We ate out that night which was super nice! Real treat! Thai food, but really interesting unique (HUGE) dishes where you can BYO! We got up early the next day to make the most of our time there, and were on the greyhound to Byron Bay by 3pm!

The best pictures of Noosa can be found here. As you can see – we for once we didn’t actually take many!!
