It began with a very long day!
We awoke at 5.30 in Fiji in our hot little dorm room, already packed and headed out to sit in the dark by the pool for ‘Joe’ to come and take us to the airport! James made a couple of bits of toast and we were brought some tea, seriously good tea!! It got to half 6, (Joe should of been there at 6, but hey it’s fiji time!) and so we decided to hop in a taxi. Said goodbye to the scrawny ginger cat that was curled up on my lap and off we went! Actually onetime for the airport which was great, but after about 10mins I was in the toilets..… Not well at all!! We checked in and went straight to the departure lounge… We arrived in Auckland all to schedule and had 5 hours to spare before our flight to Santiago… Time always goes too quickly when we’re in airports and we easily filled it with free internet, book shops and spanish books!
Boarded our flight and took off at 4.30pm. We’d got our tickets early and so had got some seats with extra leg room! Lots of good films to pick from, on any other day itd of been a great flight (as james found it) but I didn’t sleep and was still really ill…. thank goodness for films like definitely maybe and pride and prejudice to keep me going! At Midday, the same day, after the 11hour flight we ignored the money and got in an expensive cab as there was no way I was going to be able to navigate buses and tubes with my rucksack! Arrived at our great hostel, really really interesting design, and into bed! There I stayed for pretty much that day and the next. Free wifi, plus me being ill and weird jet lag meant we were (meaning mainly James!) unexpectedly able to get up todate with pictures, videos and blogs…. we were getting used to never getting the chance and always being several weeks behind and one night having to write 2 weeks worth! James went out on the 2nd day, munched some food, and took some pics of santiago, and feeling an improvement, spent the night downstairs in a little film room. By the third day, toast was being eaten! And we had a nice but slow walk around town in the afternoon, and the hostel had a bbq night in the evening which was really great, lots of interesting people, great meat and a good night had by all!
Up the next day to navigate our way to the bus station and get a bus to Valparaiso!
The pictures are here (not many!)
