I never knew NZ had such great beaches! Coromandal Peninsula…

What an amazing peninsula!! We stopped at an incredible beach beginning with O….(neither of us can remember it!) it wasnt one that the books said was amazing, but it was without doubt the best beach we’d been to in New Zealand…. We were too late for low tide at the hot water beach and so went to Cathedral Cove….. This amazingly hadnt been on our list of things to do, but it was really impressive, and it came out really well in the pictures. A couple had just got married there and were having all their pictures taken, and being there I recognised it from the postcards, so really glad we went and definately worth the 45minute walk!! We stayed somewhere nearby, so that we could do Hot water beach first thing in the morning, so glad we stayed around for it, it was amazing!!! we got there in perfect time, and started digging away from the shore, and then saw peoples pool’s near the shore steaming!! It was amazing!! So we moved plot and dug and dug away, despite the tide frequently braking our barrier at first. At last we had it sussed and another couple from Hawkes Bay came and joined us and kept our defences up! After a while there were people with pools infront of us, so being surrounded was the best way of defence! The water was like a really really warm bath, and in several spots so hot it felt it was burning! After about an hour it got so hot we could barely sit in it! A HUGE wave came and engulfed everyone, the perfect time to say goodbye and cool down!

We spent the remainder of the day driving up to the Bay of Islands, and stopped along the way to book a swimming with dolphins and sailing trip…. Drove a bit more and then stopped again by the side of the road for a good old bacon sandwhich! YUM!! On the way to the Bay of Islands we drove through Auckland and picked Clare up a new camera! Yay! Just intime for dolphin videos the next day!

The pictures are here!
